Caribbean Tree Planting ProjectSeveral initiatives are being organized across the world to mitigate climate impacts by planting 950 million hectares of new forests to limit the increase in global average temperature to 1.5-degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit). To play our part in this global initiative, we, at the CTPP, have committed to achieving the following objectives:
|
The Caribbean region contributes less than one percent to the world’s greenhouse emissions, yet bears the brunt of the social, economic, and environmental devastation caused by climate change. Despite these challenges, Caribbean people, especially youths have continued to advocate for action, creating and leading innovative solutions to the climate impacts in their own backyards. To bolster a just transition toward sustainable development across the region, the voices and visions of Caribbean people must be centered around addressing the existential challenges facing the region.
Since February 2020, the Caribbean Tree Planting Project (CTPP), coordinated by the Caribbean Philanthropic Alliance (CariPhilAlliance) and its partners, have mobilized philanthropic organizations, youths, and communities across 22 Caribbean countries and territories to plant more than one (1) million trees while advocating and building awareness around climate change.
